Friday Football Picks And Some College basketball!

So the only thing I seem to be getting right is my football picks lately.  Just the ones I'm posting that is. Everything else seems to be going in the tank sports wise, but at least the posted ones are paying off so hopefully you are paying attention and wagering accordingly.  That in mind, college basketball kicks off today as well, and although i know next to nothing about any of the teams out there with the exception of the Shocker, I do know the book doesn't know anything yet either.  That means, take good teams, who are traditionally good, early; even with big lines.  It's a lot like the 1st round of the NCAA tournament. The lines are large, as well as the vig, but if you bet the faves early, they still end up covering.  Therefore, do the same thing at the beginning of the year as well. I will be taking a few CBB teams with huge lines in hopes of this theory panning out. So, without further adieu, the picks:

CFB:

KSU-7: Need you even ask.  Yeah, they are on the road. Yeah, Klein might be a little bit banged up.  Sure, most of America wants them to fail. Sorry. To good of a team.  To well coached and too disciplined. They are better. Klein will be fine, and as I've said before, I'll ride them til I get bucked off.

Louisville-1.5: Undefeated. Superior team and superior players.  Syracuse = not good.  The problem is that the line keeps going down?  Opened at -3.5 now at -1.5. Vegas knows something I don't but I am a gluten for punishment. Go Cards. . .

Georgia-14: This line keeps wavering, but I need the game for my GA big east champion play.  I think they take care of business because Auburn is wretched. Need the double dip for this game. Plus, again, I've been riding them all year.

Others that I really like: Cincy-8.5, Kent St.-6.5, Oregon St.+4, WVa+10, Tulsa-3.5

NFL:

New England-11: Anyone remember how this game turned out earlier this year?  Buffalo up 14 early, NE wins by 30.  I don't think NE falls behind in this one this time.

New Orleans+2.5: They are at home. Team of Destiny. Score a lot of points. Whatever you want to say, I just have a hunch that Atlanta loses their first in the Superdome.

Pittsburgh-11: See other picks. Until proven wrong, I will continue to bet against the Chiefs.

CBB: I will preface this with the thought that these are the very first games of the season.  Pre-season hunches aside, no one knows anything about these teams. With that being said, here are the picks:

KSU-20, KU-22, Creighton-10, Duke-20, Michigan State-7

There you have it, all solid winnrs so wager the kids college funds on it, the house payement, your life's savings.  If it doesn't work out, hey, don't blame me, this is all illegal.

A big Shout Out to the Kansas City Royal's Billy Butler for winning the Silver Slugger award at DH. Another shout out to LF Alex Gordon for his 2nd straight Gold Glove.

Also a big shout out to LF Alex Gordon for winning his second straight Gold Glove award.

Not a shout out, but at least an "About Time" to my Los Angeles Lakers for finally firing head coach Mike Brown.  I am not sure who they are going to hire, but this game was to big for him to coach LeBron and it's to big for him to coach Kobe. Phil anyone?

Have a good weekend folks and get that book.

I will add more later, but someone went 6-0 in their CFB and NFL picks last week.  Hmm, who could that be?  oh, yeah, it was me.

Weekend Football Picks and Football Only

So I know I said I would try and do some more writing last night, but I also stated that I was pretty tired as well.  After watching my pitiful KC Chiefs donk another game away in the 4th quarter, I decided that I had had enough.  I watched a little tv and tried to get through a few programs on the dvr then called it a night. Today wasn't much different. up, shower, dress, kids, eat, work, . . . . .same old, same old.  At least tonight I get to put away Halloween decorations. Yay! Yippee! Hooray!! I know, one cannot quite contain their excitement at the thought of taking down and putting back away, 5 enormous boxes of decorations.  On the bright side, the wife is completely in charge of all Christmas decorating except the outside of the house, the yard, the train sets: ok, she puts up the tree. I still get the rest.  Hopefully that Christmas spirit will sneak up and bite me in the ass soon.  If I stay this cranky through Thanksgiving, I'm not sure if anyone will want to be around me by the time Christmas gets here. I really do like Christmas, and I thoroughly enjoy Thanksgiving, but I'm not a kid any more.  No more week long vacations from school.  As an adult, and especially one in retail, it's just an extra vacation day off, but then it's right back to the grind the day after. It builds and builds and builds, then bang, holiday over, back to work. I know it's not a resolution, but just like every other person who spends to much time on Facebook each day, I'm trying to post something I'm thankful for each day up until Thanksgiving. I am currently at 1. Long way to go. Enough about me though, let's get to some football picks.

CFB:

KSU-10: the line keeps moving because I'm not sure the book has figured out how to get people to bet on OSU yet.  I know it's in Stillwater, and I know that this could be "the game" that fouls up the Cats' chances, but you ride a winner until he don't win no more. Go Cats.

Miami of Ohio+3: RTF. Miami of Ohio isnt great, but Buffalo is 1-7 and stinks. Not sure why the line is what it is, but I am going all road this week, and this one sticks out.

Oregon-8: See KSU. Covering machine who should destroy USC.  Remember when they said AZ would keep it close? That lasted 54 minutes of the first quarter.  This will not be a repeat of last year's game.

Others to watch but no promises: Florida (should bounce back nicely), Standford (CU is horrid), WVA (TCU is 1-3 since Patschell went out), Ark. St., San Jose State, UL Monroe (more small teams that cover)

NFL:

Detroit-3.5: If Jacksonville were playing the Chiefs they would have a chance.  They are not. down 1 wide out and Detroit is picking up steam.

Green Bay-10: This just in, the wheels have fallen off in Arizona.  I thought my AZ under season wins of 6 was in trouble: nope, I still think I'm good. Plus, it's in Green Bay and I need A-Rodgers to score me some fantasy points.

Denver-3.5: I pains me to say it but Denver, and that hall of fame qb they have playing for them, are good.  real good. Cincy having a down year after last year's surprise won't keep up.

So there you have it.  It's all for fun, but go ahead and put the kids college fund on these picks. They're all winners. . .

To Tired To Post

Well, with Halloween last night, a Halloween party last Friday and a "Halloween" wedding last Saturday, it's already Thursday and heading into the next week: I'm still just so tired.  Am I old? Getting older? Can't handle myself in public places anymore?  I'm not sure what it is, but I am beat. Working until 7 tonight, then I'll head home, scarf down some dinner, put the kids to bed, get myself in some kind of order, maybe a bit of tv or a book, or some internet "surfing" (that's code for porn) and then it's midnight again.  You would think that whenever the Mayans or Aztec's or whoever came up with the calendar when they did, they could have come up with a few more hours in it. Right?

Look, I'll post some really good football picks tomorrow, and continuing on my trend, I've been pretty good lately.  And, if I get some "free" time tonight, maybe I'll try posting something Witty or whimsical instead of this dribble I'm writing now.  I just needed to get something down on paper here. Get some emotion out there and keep this thing we call life chugging down the road. Until next time, catch some Zzz's for me.
